The Baby Unit caters for children from the birth to two and a half years old. The Baby Unit operates from two houses, which are internally linked and give a lovely ‘homely’ feel. We specialise in providing a secure, caring base for your baby to grow and learn and offer families a free two-week settling in period. This enables the child care practitioners to get to know the children and build positive relationships with the family.
The curriculum is created in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It focuses on the prime areas; Personal, Social Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication & Language. As the children turn two the four areas are then added, which are Literacy, Maths, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design. As we are a play-based nursery, our focus is to integrate learning through a mix of adult led and child-initiated activities and care routines such as meal times and nappy changing.
The baby rooms have their own gardens as well as other areas that they can go and play in. In the (rear) garden we have a mud kitchen and a village role play area with cars and houses. In the front garden we have a nature zone, for older children, with two rabbits, a bug hotel, bird table and observation huts where children are encouraged to find objects in the garden from looking at pictures.
The children also take part in extra curricular activities, the weekly music session and multi-skills sessions are enjoyed by all.
